Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work La mémoire by René Magritte was auctioned at Christies in London in March last year. It achieved a price of GBP 2,082,000.00 (€ 2,468,445.33), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 16%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by René Magritte achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work L’empire des lumières in March last year with an auction result of GBP 59,422,000.00 (€ 70,451,468.85).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit La mémoire von René Magritte kam im März letzten Jahres bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 2.082.000,00 (€ 2.468.445,33) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 16%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von René Magritte erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit L’empire des lumières im März letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 59.422.000,00 (€ 70.451.468,85).
