Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Suzy Parker and Mike Nichols, Dress by Dior, Maxim's, Paris, August 1962 by Richard Avedon was auctioned at Christies in New York in February 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 7,000.00 – 9,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 7,200.00 (€ 5,442.18) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Avedon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Beatles Portfolio: John Lennon, Ringo Starr, George Harrison and Paul McCartney, London in November last year with an auction result of GBP 809,000.00 (€ 937,446.28).
