Folio, black silk clamshell case and 12 red interleaves

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work X Portfolio by Robert Mapplethorpe was auctioned at Sothebys in London in May last year. The price achieved of GBP 63,000.00 (€ 74,113.50) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Admittedly, works by Robert Mapplethorpe have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Self-Portrait in October 2017 with an auction result of GBP 548,750.00 (€ 625,682.41).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit X Portfolio von Robert Mapplethorpe kam im Mai letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 63.000,00 (€ 74.113,50) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Robert Mapplethorpe auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Self-Portrait im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 548.750,00 (€ 625.682,41).
