Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Rong Geng achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in December last year. In the Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online auction, the work Calligraphy in Bronze Script sold for HKD 63,000.00 (€ 7,549.64) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 25,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Rong Geng - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Scholar Fishing, which sold at auction in May 2017 for HKD 141,600.00 (€ 16,168.81).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Rong Geng erzielte im Dezember letzten Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online wurde die Arbeit Calligraphy in Bronze Script für HKD 63.000,00 (€ 7.549,64) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 25.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Rong Geng mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Scholar Fishing beobachtet, die im Mai 2017 für HKD 141.600,00 (€ 16.168,81) versteigert wurde.
