In November 2010 Christies in London held the auction The Collection of the Late John Appleby: A Channel Island Treasure House, which included the work Portrait of Edmund Blampied by Salomon van Abbé. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 500.00 (€ 597.50), 67% above the upper estimate. This high result makes Portrait of Edmund Blampied the most expensive artwork by Salomon van Abbé that we have observed at auctions so far.
