Auction result well in line with expectations
The work 'Sharbat Gula, Afghan Girl', Pakistan, 1984 by Steve McCurry was sold in the Photographs auction at Sothebys in London in October 2020. It changed hands for a price of GBP 13,860.00 (€ 15,390.35) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Steve McCurry - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Blue City, Jodhpur, India, 2010, which sold at auction in November 2018 for INR 3,750,000.00 (€ 47,359.36).

Die Arbeit 'Sharbat Gula, Afghan Girl', Pakistan, 1984 von Steve McCurry wurde im Oktober 2020 in der Auktion Photographs bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 13.860,00 (€ 15.390,35) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Steve McCurry mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Blue City, Jodhpur, India, 2010 beobachtet, die im November 2018 für INR 3.750.000,00 (€ 47.359,36) versteigert wurde.
