Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In March 2021 Bonhams in London held the auction Post-War & Contemporary Art, which included the work Study for Warhol's Marilyn by Elaine Sturtevant. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 180,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 206,500.00 (€ 242,584.31). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Elaine Sturtevant achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Warhol Diptych in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 5,093,000.00 (€ 4,632,526.83).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im März 2021 führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Study for Warhol's Marilyn von Elaine Sturtevant zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 180.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 206.500,00 (€ 242.584,31) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Elaine Sturtevant erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Warhol Diptych im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 5.093.000,00 (€ 4.632.526,83).
