In November 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Fine Japanese Art, which included the work Actor Ichikawa Monnosuke Ii As Date No Yosaku by Toshusai Sharaku. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 126,000.00 (€ 140,658.52), 26% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Toshusai Sharaku have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait en buste (okubi-e) de l'acteur Morita Kan'ya VIII dans le rôle de Uguisu no Jirôsaku, le porteur de palanquin, sur fond micacé gris, dans la pièce Katakiuchi Noriaibanashi, une sélection de contes de revanche, donnée le 5e mois de l'an in May 2018 with an auction result of EUR 616,600.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 26 % übertroffen
Im November 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Fine Japanese Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Actor Ichikawa Monnosuke Ii As Date No Yosaku von Toshusai Sharaku zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 126.000,00 (€ 140.658,52) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Toshusai Sharaku auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait en buste (okubi-e) de l'acteur Morita Kan'ya VIII dans le rôle de Uguisu no Jirôsaku, le porteur de palanquin, sur fond micacé gris, dans la pièce Katakiuchi Noriaibanashi, une sélection de contes de revanche, donnée le 5e mois de l'an im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 616.600,00.
