Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Actor Ichikawa Komazo III as Shiga Daishichi by Toshusai Sharaku was sold in the Japanese and Korean Art auction at Christies in Los Angeles in September this year. It changed hands for a price of USD 277,200.00 (€ 261,904.76) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 240,000.00 – 280,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Toshusai Sharaku - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait en buste (okubi-e) de l'acteur Morita Kan'ya VIII dans le rôle de Uguisu no Jirôsaku, le porteur de palanquin, sur fond micacé gris, dans la pièce Katakiuchi Noriaibanashi, une sélection de contes de revanche, donnée le 5e mois de l'an, which sold at auction in May 2018 for EUR 616,600.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Actor Ichikawa Komazo III as Shiga Daishichi von Toshusai Sharaku wurde im September diesen Jahres in der Auktion Japanese and Korean Art bei Christies in Los Angeles versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 277.200,00 (€ 261.904,76) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 240.000,00 – 280.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Toshusai Sharaku mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait en buste (okubi-e) de l'acteur Morita Kan'ya VIII dans le rôle de Uguisu no Jirôsaku, le porteur de palanquin, sur fond micacé gris, dans la pièce Katakiuchi Noriaibanashi, une sélection de contes de revanche, donnée le 5e mois de l'an beobachtet, die im Mai 2018 für EUR 616.600,00 versteigert wurde.
