Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Matsumoto Koshiro Iv As The Fish Peddler Gorobei by Toshusai Sharaku was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 35,000.00 – 40,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 32,760.00 (€ 36,571.22). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Toshusai Sharaku achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait en buste (okubi-e) de l'acteur Morita Kan'ya VIII dans le rôle de Uguisu no Jirôsaku, le porteur de palanquin, sur fond micacé gris, dans la pièce Katakiuchi Noriaibanashi, une sélection de contes de revanche, donnée le 5e mois de l'an in May 2018 with an auction result of EUR 616,600.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Matsumoto Koshiro Iv As The Fish Peddler Gorobei von Toshusai Sharaku im November 2020 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 35.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 32.760,00 (€ 36.571,22) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Toshusai Sharaku erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait en buste (okubi-e) de l'acteur Morita Kan'ya VIII dans le rôle de Uguisu no Jirôsaku, le porteur de palanquin, sur fond micacé gris, dans la pièce Katakiuchi Noriaibanashi, une sélection de contes de revanche, donnée le 5e mois de l'an im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 616.600,00.
