Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Osagawa Tsuneyo Ii As Ippei'S Sister Osan by Toshusai Sharaku was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 50,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 52,920.00 (€ 59,076.58) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Toshusai Sharaku achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait en buste (okubi-e) de l'acteur Morita Kan'ya VIII dans le rôle de Uguisu no Jirôsaku, le porteur de palanquin, sur fond micacé gris, dans la pièce Katakiuchi Noriaibanashi, une sélection de contes de revanche, donnée le 5e mois de l'an in May 2018 with an auction result of EUR 616,600.00.

Die Arbeit Osagawa Tsuneyo Ii As Ippei'S Sister Osan von Toshusai Sharaku kam im November 2020 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 50.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 52.920,00 (€ 59.076,58) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Toshusai Sharaku erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait en buste (okubi-e) de l'acteur Morita Kan'ya VIII dans le rôle de Uguisu no Jirôsaku, le porteur de palanquin, sur fond micacé gris, dans la pièce Katakiuchi Noriaibanashi, une sélection de contes de revanche, donnée le 5e mois de l'an im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 616.600,00.
