The work Sawamura Sojuro Iii As Ogishi Kurando by Toshusai Sharaku was sold in the Fine Japanese Art auction at Sothebys in London in November 2020. It achieved a price of GBP 100,800.00 (€ 112,526.82), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 44%. Admittedly, works by Toshusai Sharaku have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait en buste (okubi-e) de l'acteur Morita Kan'ya VIII dans le rôle de Uguisu no Jirôsaku, le porteur de palanquin, sur fond micacé gris, dans la pièce Katakiuchi Noriaibanashi, une sélection de contes de revanche, donnée le 5e mois de l'an in May 2018 with an auction result of EUR 616,600.00.

Die Arbeit Sawamura Sojuro Iii As Ogishi Kurando von Toshusai Sharaku wurde im November 2020 in der Auktion Fine Japanese Art bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 100.800,00 (€ 112.526,82) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 44%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Toshusai Sharaku auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait en buste (okubi-e) de l'acteur Morita Kan'ya VIII dans le rôle de Uguisu no Jirôsaku, le porteur de palanquin, sur fond micacé gris, dans la pièce Katakiuchi Noriaibanashi, une sélection de contes de revanche, donnée le 5e mois de l'an im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 616.600,00.
