Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Deep And Serene by Tu Hongtao was worth HKD 1,600,000.00 (€ 151,697.78) to a buyer in November 2013. This price was achieved in the auction Asian Contemporary Art (Day Sale) at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 500,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Tu Hongtao; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot In Dream and Somnus sold at auction in October 2015 with the realized price of CNY 1,950,000.00 (€ 279,555.33).
