Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction Japanese Woodblock Prints | Including the Sokolov Collection, which included the work Haze on a Clear Day at Nihonbashi Bridge (Nihonbashi seiran) by Utagawa Toyohiro. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,386.00 (€ 1,612.64) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Admittedly, works by Utagawa Toyohiro have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Standing beauty in March 2009 with an auction result of USD 18,750.00 (€ 14,139.21).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Japanese Woodblock Prints | Including the Sokolov Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Haze on a Clear Day at Nihonbashi Bridge (Nihonbashi seiran) von Utagawa Toyohiro zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 1.386,00 (€ 1.612,64) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Utagawa Toyohiro auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Standing beauty im März 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 18.750,00 (€ 14.139,21).
