Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The New Year pilgrimage to Myohoji Temple in Horinouchi by Utagawa Toyohiro was auctioned at Bonhams in November this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 200.00 – 300.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 115.20 (€ 133.49). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Utagawa Toyohiro achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Standing beauty in March 2009 with an auction result of USD 18,750.00 (€ 14,139.21).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The New Year pilgrimage to Myohoji Temple in Horinouchi von Utagawa Toyohiro im November diesen Jahres bei Bonhams versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 200,00 – 300,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 115,20 (€ 133,49) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Utagawa Toyohiro erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Standing beauty im März 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 18.750,00 (€ 14.139,21).
