Bakhchanyan grew up in Kharkiv in Ukraine and moved to Moscow in the mid-1960s where he produced caricatures for 'Literaturnaya gazeta'. In 1974 he emigrated to New York City. Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Telegram No.3 by Vagrich Bakhchanyan was sold in the Escape Artists: The Non-Conformists Online auction at Sothebys in New York in October 2018. The price achieved of USD 1,000.00 (€ 882.46) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Vagrich Bakhchanyan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Stalin Test in February 2007 with an auction result of GBP 6,000.00 (€ 8,894.78).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Telegram No.3 von Vagrich Bakhchanyan wurde im Oktober 2018 in der Auktion Escape Artists: The Non-Conformists Online bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 1.000,00 (€ 882,46) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Vagrich Bakhchanyan erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Stalin Test im Februar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.000,00 (€ 8.894,78).
