In May 2019 Christies in New York held the auction American Art Online, which included the work Man Smoking Pipe in Cotton Field by William Aiken Walker. The result of USD 5,000.00 (€ 4,484.71) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Aiken Walker achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Big B Cotton Plantation in November 2017 with an auction result of USD 648,500.00 (€ 545,049.59).

Im Mai 2019 führte Christies in New York die Auktion American Art Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Man Smoking Pipe in Cotton Field von William Aiken Walker zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 5.000,00 (€ 4.484,71) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Aiken Walker erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Big B Cotton Plantation im November 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 648.500,00 (€ 545.049,59).
