Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%

This artwork by Yanagawa Shigenobu II achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in September last year. In the Japanese and Korean Art auction, the work Kurobo (Blackness) sold for USD 6,048.00 (€ 6,182.15) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Yanagawa Shigenobu II; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Edo Period (1615-1868), Circa 1835 sold at auction in September 2021 with the realized price of USD 9,562.50 (€ 8,259.91).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Yanagawa Shigenobu II erzielte im September letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Japanese and Korean Art wurde die Arbeit Kurobo (Blackness) für USD 6.048,00 (€ 6.182,15) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 3.000,00.
