Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2019 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy Including Property from the Chokaido Museum Collection, which included the work Running-Standard Script Calligraphy by Yuan Mei. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 200,000.00 – 400,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 250,000.00 (€ 28,612.43) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Yuan Mei have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Letters in March 2016 with an auction result of USD 212,500.00 (€ 186,567.16).
