In March last year Christies in Shanghai held the auction 20th/21st Century: Shanghai Evening Sale, which included the work Le soir à l’Hôtel du Palais (Palace Hotel by night) by Zao Wou-Ki. The »bidding war« ended at CNY 24,360,000.00 (€ 3,463,059.59), 35% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Zao Wou-Ki have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 29.09.64. in May last year with an auction result of HKD 278,000,000.00 (€ 33,004,566.21).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 35 % übertroffen
Im März letzten Jahres führte Christies in Shanghai die Auktion 20th/21st Century: Shanghai Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Le soir à l’Hôtel du Palais (Palace Hotel by night) von Zao Wou-Ki zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von CNY 24.360.000,00 (€ 3.463.059,59) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Zao Wou-Ki auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit 29.09.64. im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 278.000.000,00 (€ 33.004.566,21).
