This artwork by Lutanda Zemba Luzamba achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in March 2021. In the Modern and Contemporary African Art auction, the work Red Carpet sold for GBP 10,710.00 (€ 12,581.49) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Lutanda Zemba Luzamba - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Cigars, Cognac and Lemon, which sold at auction in November 2021 for GBP 27,720.00 (€ 32,545.89).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 79 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Lutanda Zemba Luzamba erzielte im März 2021 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern and Contemporary African Art wurde die Arbeit Red Carpet für GBP 10.710,00 (€ 12.581,49) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 6.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Lutanda Zemba Luzamba mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Cigars, Cognac and Lemon beobachtet, die im November 2021 für GBP 27.720,00 (€ 32.545,89) versteigert wurde.
