Art in a ROOM
In the exhibition ROOM 1, three different artistic positions enter into dialog: Anna Lagosch, Moritz Dümmel and Thomas Heger are exhibiting together for the first time. The show opens on May 7 at 7 pm in the AIX12 showroom in Stuttgart and is the prelude to a planned series of exhibitions.

All three artists in the exhibition question conventional visual habits: Rectangles and squares dominate the visual world of Anna Lagosch, who is taking part in the Art.Salon artist program. She explores what a picture is, beyond the usual patterns, and gives her thoughts a visible form. In doing so, she does not develop her paintings from the center of the canvas, but thinks of them from the rectangular or square boundaries that primarily determine the content of the picture. In the ROOM 1 exhibition, Lagosch is showing some of her latest works. Moritz Dümmel's current works – drawings, objects and photographs – also challenge viewing habits. The artist combines photorealism with reduced allusions and rejects the laws of familiar spatial orders. Both Lagosch and Dümmel studied at the Freie Kunsthochschule Stuttgart. Thomas Heger, the third artist in the exhibition, supervised their diplomas. Heger transports realistically depicted figures into abstract spaces, imaginary worlds. The artist exposes the appearance of objectivity that is often attached to images. ROOM 1 is the first exhibition in a planned series. The premiere exhibition can be seen from May 7 to 25 at the AIX12 showroom in Stuttgart, the vernissage starts at 7 pm.
Anna Lagosch studied mathematics and technical business administration before studying art. She combines painterly and sculptural elements in her work. Her focus is on the crossover, the in-between. »In my work, I play with chance according to self-imposed rules, I deal with the question of what a picture is, and I think a work is good when my desire to make contingency visible is given aesthetic expression«, she explains her work.
