The line is the central element of Anja Mamero's paintings. She explores it in an unexpected depth, the works, which initially seemed rigid, developed their own dynamic: »While I was initially interested in their organizing, structure-creating function, today I am more and more interested in the breaks, irregularities and spaces in between«, the artist explains her work. Lines that transcend and overlap create complex pictorial structures, composed from the most basic form of painterly expression. At Galerie Stehr in Tornesch, Mamero is showing numerous works in the exhibition Anja Mamero. In between. The vernissage will take place on April 13 at 2 p.m., after which the show will be on display until May 29. On April 25, Joachim Frank will read from his satirical novel Girl with a Red Eye as part of the exhibition.
Born in Hamburg, Anja Mamero studied industrial design and graduated from the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Kiel. Her previous exhibitions have taken her to Lübeck, Berlin, Hamburg and the Danish cities of Kolding and Augustenborg, among others. Mamero creates her works in interaction with the paintings themselves: she applies the colors in many layers, causing the work to constantly change, rediscover itself and take different directions. The unpredictable is part of the artist's creative process.
The Stehr Gallery's sculpture garden will be inaugurated on May 24. Numerous sculptures by the sculptor Jörg Plickat, who also studied at the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts and Design, invite visitors to wander and discover. The art historian Dr. Thomas Gädeke will provide introductory words.
OPENING HOURS: until May 29, Fridays 5-7 p.m., Saturdays 2-5 p.m., Sundays 12-6 p.m. and by appointment. GALERIE STEHR Hörnweg 28, 25436 Tornesch Phone: 0151.16 83 30 97, Mail: [email protected]
