Cityscape: Between proximity and distance

In her solo exhibition Cityscape at the Kulturtours Hamburg gallery, artist Christiane Rokahr invites visitors to engage in a sensitive observation of urban spaces. Starting on March 7, 2026, she will present several series of works, such as Industriecharme and Lyon, as well as individual images.

Her images dispense with narrative storytelling. Instead, based on her own observations, Christiane Rokahr explores pictorial spaces that reflect the fragile balance between proximity, distance, withdrawal, and openness. Fleeting encounters between people in urban spaces turn out to be complex experiences and social dynamics, influenced by thoughts, feelings, and sometimes incompatible beliefs and attitudes toward life. Christiane Rokahr sheds light on these often overlooked events that so unconsciously shape people's everyday lives. In the solo exhibition Stadtbild (Cityscape) at the Kulturtours Hamburg gallery, she is showing a selection of series of works such as Industriecharme (Industrial Charm), Lyon, and Rome, as well as several individual images. The show runs from March 7 to June 24, 2026.

Christiane Rokahr, who is participating in the Art.Salon artist program, works primarily in acrylic and charcoal. Her own artistic work and her understanding of art are influenced by her many years of intensive work with people, which forms the center of her oeuvre: Rokahr is a psychotherapist with her own practice. The artist, who lives in Hamelin, studied painting and drawing in Hanover and Kolbermoor.

From May 2 to 16, Christiane Rokahr will participate in an exhibition on the other side of Germany: The Kunstverein Murnau is showing works by Rokahr in dialogue with landscape paintings by Günther Rau in Innenleben – Außenwelt (Inner Life – Outer World). The vernissage will take place on May 1, 2026.
