Day and Night Thoughts

At Burgau Castle in Düren, Stefan Stichler is showing a selection of recent works in the exhibition Day and Night Thoughts. Everyday observations of situations or gestures inspire the artist to create metaphorical paintings. The vernissage will take place on May 11 at 12 noon.

His paintings draw attention to the stories of life: the artist Stefan Stichler translates observations from everyday urban life into enigmatic images that tell of life's crises and joys. He reveals the complexity of seemingly banal situations and moments that are normally quickly forgotten: Stories and life experiences are hidden behind the fleeting impressions. Stichler's paintings motivate us to encounter the depictions from personal experiences, to give free rein to our feelings, to think about the stories and to explore possible interpretations. A selection of Stichler's large-format works can be seen in the solo exhibition Day and Night Thoughts at Burgau Castle in Düren. The vernissage will take place on May 11 at 12 noon, after which the exhibition will run until July 13. On May 24 at 3 pm, Stefan Stichler will give a personal tour of the exhibition and on July 5 at 3 pm he will be on site for an artist talk.

Stefan Stichler is a painter and sculptor. He lives and works in Frankfurt am Main and Düsseldorf. In addition to everyday observations, music and literature as well as personal experiences also influence his paintings, in which he devotes himself to universal themes. Death and loss, for example, are common to all people, but they are experienced individually. Stichler's works of art offer the opportunity to see one's own experiences from a new perspective. »Art takes time – it is accessible to those who take the time to enjoy it. It is a marker that expands and influences the way we think and feel«, says the artist about his work.Art.Salon
