Surreal mind games meet invisible physical forces: the exhibition Hydraulic and Mental Connections brings the works of two painters into an exciting dialog. Kristof Meyer from Hamburg presents surreal metaphors for the barely comprehensible world of thoughts and emotions. They are invisible and powerful, with great influence on human action. In Meyer's works, they find a visible, dream-like expression that invites reflection and questions the limits of perception. A large-format painting on canvas and several medium and small-format mixed media works, mainly on wood and glass, by the artist are on display. In his photorealistic, symmetrically composed paintings, Berlin-born Daniel Ben-Benyamin examines invisible physical forces that shape the environment and human societies. Some of his works are mobile installations: they move and thus take on hybrid forms between machine and living being. The vernissage of the exhibition, curated by Iren Tonoian, will take place on June 13 at 7 pm in the art space Empire Zero One in Cologne. The show will then run until July 4.

Kristof Meyer, who is taking part in the Art.Salon artist program, leaves plenty of room for interpretation in his paintings. His surreal landscapes unfold like stage sets, in which people, animals and architectural elements come together and symbolize in their mysteriousness the confused worlds of thoughts and emotions. The artist works primarily in oil on canvas, but also regularly experiments with various materials such as wood, glass and sandpaper. Meyer has been exhibiting his work in solo and group shows for over 20 years, with a focus on northern Germany.
