The Düsseldorf art association Betonbox continues its exhibition series on the unique community of the Düsseldorf art scene: In Malerei Düsseldorf, works by 33 artists closely connected to the local art community and the city itself are presented in the high-rise bunker at the Rath-Mitte S-Bahn station. Düsseldorf-based artist Gabriele Weide, whose work focuses primarily on urban vegetation, drastic environmental changes, and the creative potential of nature, is also represented in the exhibition: She is showing two works from her series Horizonte. A panel discussion will take place at 3 p.m. on May 10 for the closing event, to which distinguished guests have been invited: art critic Dr. Helga Meister, Clara Gerlach, Mayor of Düsseldorf, painter Jiny Lan, painter Prof. Udo Dziersk, and artist Bernhard Kucken.
Gabriele Weide recently presented several works on the theme of character trees at the innovative ArtArtist art fair in Düsseldorf, works that reflect the seemingly infinite diversity of nature’s forms. The artist participated in the fair, which ran from April 17 to 19, as part of the artist collective »Buntes Bilder Kartell«, which includes eight other artists. The group was selected as one of 60 for the fair; approximately 150 artist groups had applied.
