The regional show, which is organized by the Drostei Pinneberg and the Künstlergilde Kreis Pinneberg e.V., takes place every four years. Artists from Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg present their work in a wide variety of media such as painting, drawing, photography, object art and digital art. The current 8th Regional Show: Living together focuses on works of art that encourage reflection on regional and international problems and recall the foundations of social coexistence. Around 80 works of art by over 50 artists can be seen in the exhibition at the Drostei Pinneberg. The show runs from April 6 to May 18 and is open Wednesdays to Sundays.
Among the exhibiting artists is Frauke Petersen from the Art.Salon artist program. The central material used by the artist, who lives in St. Peter-Ording, is sand, which she applies to photographs, thus distorting the image with new structures. This results in relief-like works that appear to take on ever new forms depending on the incident light and viewing angle. By combining photography, which creates the illusion of reality, and sand, often associated with transformation and fleetingness, Petersen questions the objectivity of seeing.
The next exhibition with Frauke Petersen opens just one week later: from April 13, she and photographer Karen Seggelke will be presenting their work at Husum Town Hall. Petersen will be showing a selection of current and older works. The exhibition runs until July 5 and is open Monday to Friday.
As part of the InterNationalgalerie series, the Alte Nationalgalerie invites other institutions to exhibit in its own spaces. Kicking off the series on June 18 is the National Museum in Warsaw with the exhibition Inventing Myths.
Through June 27, Elvira Flamm is showcasing three works from her series Ikonen ohne Namen (Icons without Names) in the Made in Berlin Art Award 2026 exhibition. She was selected as one of 20 artists for the show at the BBA Gallery.
