Life is movement, it is said, but when is the right time for which movement and when does it make sense to pause? The artist Ulrike Hahn starts with fleeting moments in everyday life that people rarely consciously notice or quickly forget. When these moments exert a certain attraction, Hahn brings them from memory onto the canvas, enveloped in an atmospheric play of colors. Viewers are encouraged to appreciate the significance of these small moments in time and to engage in emotional reactions. The artist's figures take time out from the hustle and bustle of modern (city) life and the relentless march of time. They invite us to reflect on the moment and concentrate on our own emotional world. Hahn finds inspiration in the contrast between her busy life in Berlin and her remote studio on an industrial site, as well as her travels to distant places.
The title of her solo exhibition Kairos refers to the personification of the »favorable opportunity« in Greek mythology. Seizing the right moment is often associated with action, but which moments are the right ones for pausing? It is up to the viewer to answer this question for themselves. The vernissage of the Kairos exhibition will take place on October 23 at 7 pm, after which it will be on display at Galerie 100 in Berlin until December 15.
