Biennale 2024
Stranieri Ovunque – Foreigners Everywhere
Venice Biennal 2024

New perspectives: As a guiding principle, the Biennale di Venezia 2024 has prioritized artists who have never participated in the international exhibition before – only some have already been shown in Venice. Particular attention will be paid to outdoor projects, both in the Arsenale and in the Giardini. The title of the exhibition is »Stranieri Ovunque – Foreigners Everywhere« and is based on a series of works begun in 2004 by Claire Fontaine, a collective founded in Paris and based in Palermo. The works consist of neon sculptures in different colors that reproduce the phrase »Foreigners Everywhere« in a growing number of languages. This phrase originally comes from the name of a Turin collective that fought against racism and xenophobia in Italy in the early 2000s.

Australia wins the Golden Lion for the best pavilion, the Mataaho Collective from New Zealand the one for the main exhibition: the awards fit in with the Biennale's concept of giving indigenous art the attention it deserves.
