abstract and concrete objects with an inner space
In three-dimensional art, space is a condition that artists constantly grapple with. The arch, as a concrete, abstract form, already describes an inner space. An inside and an outside.
By combining arches and concrete, purely abstract forms, Heike Weber creates objects that move effortlessly through space, describe concrete spaces and form an interior. The seemingly effortlessly combined ceramic sculptures and bronzes impress with their clarity and playful appearance. The artist offers an almost infinite variety of possible combinations.
She plays with the effect of movement within the form and purely concrete forms. The material also plays a role. She has her sculptures, which are usually presented on pedestals, enlarged and cast in bronze and aluminium, while the artist usually creates her concrete wall objects from glazed ceramics. This results in series of similar forms that offer additional scope for play through their diverse arrangement possibilities.
Heike Weber's works have a playful impression of liveliness and lightness.
