The diversity of abstraction: With the exhibition Analogies, Cologne's Galerie Biesenbach presents works by four artists who explore the possibilities of abstraction in different ways. Paintings, drawings, textile works and sculptures reveal similarities and differences and allow visitors to immerse themselves in new spatial concepts. The exhibited works are by Hanna Kaminski, Patrizia Kränzlein, Minh Dung Vu and Heike Weber, who is taking part in the Art.Salon artist program. Analogies runs until June 21.
The artist Heike Weber creates room and wall objects in which she elegantly combines basic arch shapes to create complex structures. The sculptures take up their space in a restrained manner and delimit new interior spaces without appearing strictly demarcating. Weber's objects appear dynamic, skilfully disguising the heaviness and rigidity of the material: they are formed from bronze or aluminum, the wall objects are mostly made of glazed ceramic. The curved shapes are used repeatedly, allowing the artist to constantly find new, diverse design possibilities.
Heike Weber studied painting at the Freie Kunstschule Cologne and sculpting at the Bildhauerhalle Bonn. In addition to her objects, her work also includes minimalist paintings. In recent years, she has shown her work at numerous exhibitions in Zurich, Cologne, Duisburg and Schwerin, among others. From June 29, she will be taking part in the show Die Große Kunstausstellung NRW Düsseldorf at the Kunstpalast Düsseldorf.
