Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Moon and The Loop by Alexander Calder was auctioned at Christies in New York in May this year. It changed hands for a price of USD 5,555,500.00 (€ 5,214,473.44) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 4,000,000.00 – 6,000,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alexander Calder - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Poisson volant (Flying Fish), which sold at auction in May 2014 for USD 25,925,000.00 (€ 19,006,598.24).

Die Arbeit The Moon and The Loop von Alexander Calder kam im Mai diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 5.555.500,00 (€ 5.214.473,44) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 4.000.000,00 – 6.000.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Alexander Calder mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Poisson volant (Flying Fish) beobachtet, die im Mai 2014 für USD 25.925.000,00 (€ 19.006.598,24) versteigert wurde.
