Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2003 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH AND VICTORIAN PICTURES, which included the work Marlow from the Thames by Arthur Gilbert. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 4,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,055.00 (€ 4,256.38) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Arthur Gilbert - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The road up Snowdon, North Wales; and Loch Maree, Scotland, which sold at auction in March 2004 for GBP 5,736.00 (€ 8,586.27).
