Auction result well in line with expectations

The work Original illustration for A Midsummer Night's Dream (Up and down, up and down, Goblin), 1908 by Arthur Rackham was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2021. The price achieved of GBP 22,680.00 (€ 27,052.48) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Arthur Rackham - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Andromeda, which sold at auction in September last year for GBP 88,500.00 (€ 100,721.56).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 22.680,00 (€ 27.052,48) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Arthur Rackham mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Andromeda beobachtet, die im September letzten Jahres für GBP 88.500,00 (€ 100.721,56) versteigert wurde.
