A top price for August Macke - as previously expected
The work Markt in Tunis by August Macke was sold in the German & Austrian Art auction at Christies in London in October 2000. The price achieved of GBP 2,863,750.00 (€ 4,894,967.45) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,500,000.00 – 3,000,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Markt in Tunis is the most expensive artwork by August Macke that we have observed at auctions so far.
