Auction result well in line with expectations
In March last year Sothebys in Paris held the auction Surrealism and Its Legacy, which included the work Nu endormi by Balthus. The price achieved of EUR 1,087,700.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 900,000.00 – 1,200,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Balthus achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Thérèse Sur Une Banquette in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 19,002,500.00 (€ 17,044,129.52).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in Paris die Auktion Surrealism and Its Legacy durch, in der auch die Arbeit Nu endormi von Balthus zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 1.087.700,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 900.000,00 – 1.200.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Balthus erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Thérèse Sur Une Banquette im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 19.002.500,00 (€ 17.044.129,52).
