Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Useless by Bari Kumar was auctioned at Sothebys in Paris in October 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 378.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bari Kumar achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Silence II in May 2008 with an auction result of HKD 391,500.00 (€ 32,230.82).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Useless von Bari Kumar im Oktober 2021 bei Sothebys in Paris versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 378,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Bari Kumar erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Silence II im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 391.500,00 (€ 32.230,82).
