In February 2007 Christies in New York held the auction Photographs From The Estate of Thomas T. Solley, which included the work Two Prostitutes, Boulevard Montparnasse, c. 1931 by Brassaï. The »bidding war« ended at USD 12,000.00 (€ 9,070.29), 33% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Brassaï have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ciel Postiche (False Sky) in April 2001 with an auction result of USD 44,650.00 (€ 50,315.53).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 33 % übertroffen
Im Februar 2007 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Photographs From The Estate of Thomas T. Solley durch, in der auch die Arbeit Two Prostitutes, Boulevard Montparnasse, c. 1931 von Brassaï zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 12.000,00 (€ 9.070,29) und damit 33% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Brassaï auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ciel Postiche (False Sky) im April 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 44.650,00 (€ 50.315,53).
