Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Hawking by Briton Rivière was sold in the Victorian & Traditionalist Pictures auction at Christies in London in November 2006. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 16,800.00 (€ 24,948.53) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Briton Rivière have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Requiescat in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 111,150.00 (€ 162,275.49).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Hawking von Briton Rivière wurde im November 2006 in der Auktion Victorian & Traditionalist Pictures bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 16.800,00 (€ 24.948,53) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Briton Rivière auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Requiescat im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 111.150,00 (€ 162.275,49).
