Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled (Hairy) by Charles Long was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 250.00 (€ 188.41). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Long achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 3 to 1 in Groovy Green in March 2012 with an auction result of USD 18,750.00 (€ 14,061.80).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled (Hairy) von Charles Long im Dezember 2010 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 250,00 (€ 188,41) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Charles Long erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit 3 to 1 in Groovy Green im März 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 18.750,00 (€ 14.061,80).
