Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work “Wall of Oil Barrels, The Iron Curtain, Rue Visconti, Paris” by Christo was auctioned at Bruun Rasmussen in May this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of DKK 8,000.00 – 10,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for DKK 4,000.00 (€ 536.89). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Christo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Umbrellas (Joint project for Japan and USA) in February 2021 with an auction result of EUR 1,706,500.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit “Wall of Oil Barrels, The Iron Curtain, Rue Visconti, Paris” von Christo im Mai diesen Jahres bei Bruun Rasmussen versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von DKK 8.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für DKK 4.000,00 (€ 536,89) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Christo erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Umbrellas (Joint project for Japan and USA) im Februar 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 1.706.500,00.
