Auction result well in line with expectations
The work La muse endormie I by Constantin Brancusi was sold in the Impressionist and Modern Evening Sale Including Property from the John C. Whitehead Collection auction at Christies in New York in May 2015. The price achieved of USD 9,125,000.00 (€ 8,299,981.81) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 8,000,000.00 – 12,000,000.00. Admittedly, works by Constantin Brancusi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work La jeune fille sophistiquée (Portrait de Nancy Cunard) in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 71,187,500.00 (€ 61,000,428.45).
