Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Venere Sopra Gaeta by Cy Twombly was sold in the The Collection of Thomas and Doris Ammann Evening Sale auction at Christies in New York in May last year. Here, the upper estimate of USD 15,000,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 16,992,500.00 (€ 15,834,964.12). Admittedly, works by Cy Twombly have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (New York City) in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 70,530,000.00 (€ 66,777,125.54).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Venere Sopra Gaeta von Cy Twombly wurde im Mai letzten Jahres in der Auktion The Collection of Thomas and Doris Ammann Evening Sale bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 15.000.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 16.992.500,00 (€ 15.834.964,12) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Cy Twombly auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (New York City) im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 70.530.000,00 (€ 66.777.125,54).
