A top price for Cy Twombly - as previously expected
The work Untitled (New York City) by Cy Twombly was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 70,000,000.00 – 80,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 70,530,000.00 (€ 66,777,125.54) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Untitled (New York City) is the most expensive artwork by Cy Twombly that we have observed at auctions so far.
