Auction result misses estimated price range
In October 2009 a collector was able to acquire the work 'Shipbreaking #13, Chittagong, Bangladesh' by Edward Burtynsky for USD 5,000.00 (€ 3,388.68). This price was achieved in the auction Photographs at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Burtynsky achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nickel Tailings #34 and #35, Sudbury, Ontario in October 2014 with an auction result of USD 100,000.00 (€ 79,808.46).
