Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Egon Schiele achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Paris in June 2021. In the 20th/21st Century: Collection Francis Gross auction, the work The Embrace sold for EUR 560,000.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 250,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Egon Schiele achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Häuser Mit Bunter Wäsche (Vorstadt Ii) Houses With Laundry (Suburb Ii) in June 2011 with an auction result of GBP 24,681,250.00 (€ 27,305,215.43).
