It achieved a price of USD 2,144,000.00 (€ 1,818,490.25), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 43%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Fernand Léger achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Contraste de formes in November 2017 with an auction result of USD 70,062,500.00 (€ 58,885,947.22).

Die Arbeit La Partie de Cartes von Fernand Léger wurde im November 2005 in der Auktion Impressionist and Modern ArtEvening Sale bei Christies in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 2.144.000,00 (€ 1.818.490,25) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 43%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Fernand Léger erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Contraste de formes im November 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 70.062.500,00 (€ 58.885.947,22).
