Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Waterfall by Fernando Botero was sold in the 20th/21st Century Art Evening Sale auction at Christies in Hong Kong in May this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 5,000,000.00 – 8,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 5,292,000.00 (€ 634,304.86) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Fernando Botero have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Musicians in November this year with an auction result of USD 5,132,000.00 (€ 4,704,803.81).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Waterfall von Fernando Botero wurde im Mai diesen Jahres in der Auktion 20th/21st Century Art Evening Sale bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 5.000.000,00 – 8.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von HKD 5.292.000,00 (€ 634.304,86) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Fernando Botero auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Musicians im November diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 5.132.000,00 (€ 4.704.803,81).
