In August this year Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction Modern Native American Art and JewelryFeaturing the Historic Pictorial Beadwork Collection of Joel and Kate Kopp, which included the work July Carnival by Fritz Scholder. The »bidding war« ended at USD 320.00 (€ 295.23), 60% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Fritz Scholder achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work "Dartmouth Portrait #8," 1973 in August last year with an auction result of USD 378,375.00 (€ 375,931.45).
